Classic Horror Scream Queens Day One: Fay Wray

Who comes to mind when one thinks of the classic "Scream Queen?"  Is it the ice-cold blonde with nerves of steel and a chic skirt suit to match?  Maybe she's draped in satin?  Regardless of the look, our heroine is always ready for anything that may come her way, or cross her path.

Fashion in horror films does a great job of documenting the styles of the era.  We'll begin with the Original Scream Queen, Fay Wray.  She starred in 'King Kong' (1933) as Ann Darrow. Wray taught generations of Damsels in Distress the proper way to scream.  The glamorous Wray also showed many young women what the classic 30's look was all about.

Fay Wray is the reason we love horror films.  She showed the audience what fear looked like and kept them coming back for more.  Although, it also may have been her classic satin gown and finger waves that helped her accomplish it.

This simple yet stunning look is a modern take on the classic white gown that Fay Wray won over the audience with in 'King Kong.' The touches of gold in the earrings and heels add to the glamour of the look.
